“As part of the ongoing India-Bangladesh defence cooperation, a joint military training exercise ‘Sampriti 2016’ will be conducted at Tangail near Dhaka in Bangladesh from November 5-8,” the Defence Ministry said in a release here.

The exercise is likely to include counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, it added.

According to the release, army personnel from both countries will also be “familiarised” with each other’s organisational structure and tactical drills.

This year’s joint exercise is an important bilateral defence cooperation endeavour between India and Bangladesh and will be the sixth edition of the same, hosted alternately by the two countries.

Last year, India hosted ‘Sampriti 2015’ at Binnaguri, West Bengal.

The first exercise in this series was conducted in 2010 at Jorhat in Assam.
