PM Modi offers chaadar via minister Naqvi at Moinuddin Chishti’s dargah

Moinuddin Chishti, one of the most revered sufi saints and popularly known as Garib Nawaz, established the Chishti order of Sufism in the Indian subcontinent.

Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday offered a ‘chaadar’ on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the dargah of Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Modi on March 24 handed over the ‘chaadar‘ to Naqvi and minister of state in the PMO Jitendra Singh in New Delhi.

Reading out Modi’s message on the occasion of the annual Urs of the 12th century Sufi saint, Naqvi said, “Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is a symbol of India’s great spiritual tradition.”

“The Garib Nawaz’s service to the humanity will definitely continue to inspire the generations,” he said.

On Chishti’s role in communal harmony, Naqvi said he inspires people to strengthen communal and social harmony which can defeat the forces creating conflict in our society.
