Will contest at least 25 seats in next year’s Mizoram election: State AAP leader

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party will contest at least 25 out of 40 seats in the Mizoram assembly elections expected to be held next year, a senior state AAP leader said on Friday. ED files charge sheet in money laundering case linked to coal levy case

The Enforcement Directorate on Friday filed a charge sheet against four people including an IAS officer in a Raipur court in money laundering case linked to the alleged extortion of an illegal levy from coal and mining transporters in Chhattisgarh. ED's counsel Saurabh Pandey said the charge sheet named Indian Administrative Service officer Sameer Vishnoi, coal trader Suryakant Tiwari, his uncle Laxmikant Tiwari and businessman Sunil Agrawal as accused.

Rainfall battered several regions of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh on Friday as the cyclonic storm approaches. News agency ANI reported that devotees visiting Tirupati Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, faced several problems starting from hampered darshan to difficulty in reaching hotels as rain hit the city in the southern state under the influence of Cyclone Mandous. Low-lying areas of the temple, including the premises, reportedly witnessed waterlogging, making it tough for devotees to commute from their hotels.

As Tamil Nadu braces for cyclone Mandous, Chennai cancels over 12 flights, shuts parks

As cyclonic storm Mandous expected to make landfall past midnight approaches the Tamil Nadu coast, Chennai international airport cancelled more than a dozen flights and the state government shut down parks and announced the suspension of bus services in 15 districts two hours before the storm reaches the coast. By 5.30pm on Friday, Mandous lay centred about 170km south-southeast of Chennai and 135 km southeast of Mamallapuram. Mandous, pronounced 'man-dous' is an Arabic word.
