At least two men have been detained in connection with the blast as the duo, identified as Salman and Devender, previously owned the Hyundai i20 car that exploded in Delhi's Chandni Chowk on Monday. The car's detailed sales history is now being traced to get further clues, police said on Monday night.

Hours after a car blast shook Delhi on Monday, the investigators said that CCTV footage helped them retrace the final journey of the vehicle that was used in the explosion. According to an official aware of the matter, the footage shows the vehicle moving from the Daryaganj market area before reaching the parking lot near Sunehri Masjid around 4 pm on Monday. Cameras later captured it driving along Chhata Rail Chowk, where it took a U-turn and headed towards Lower Subhash Marg. "It was being driven on the Chhata Rail Chow before taking a U-turn and moving towards Lower Subash Marg. The CCTV footage shows that the car was approaching a signal and had slowed down when the explosion occurred," the official said.

A car explosion near Delhi's iconic Red Fort rocked the national capital on Monday evening. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that eight people had died in the explosion. “In some time, I am hoping that our agencies will determine the cause of the explosion,” he said. “We are keeping all the angles open and investigating on all sides.”

The US State Department Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs expressed condolences over the high-intensity blast near Delhi's historic Red Fort that took place on Monday evening, leaving at least eight people dead and many others injured.

In a post on X, it said, "Our hearts are with those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We continue to closely monitor the situation. Our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured."

The BJP leaders from Assam have slammed Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi from the state after he insinuated a connection between the Delhi blast and the second phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly election.

"My discerning friend tells me that it was a very predictable course of action before the last round of Bihar elections!" Bordoloi said in a post on X after the Delhi blast that took place on Monday evening, killing at least eight people and injuring several others.

Australia expressed condolences over the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed eight people on Monday evening.

In a post on X, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, said, “Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by the incident this evening near Delhi's Red Fort. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones, and we wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

By 11.30 pm on Monday, of the eight people killed in the explosion outside Red Fort, only two had been identified — 34-year-old Ashok Kumar, a native of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, and Amar Kataria, a resident of Sriniwaspuri in Delhi.

A high alert has been issued in Maharashtra following a blast in a car near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi on Monday, and security has been beefed up at vital installations in Mumbai and other locations, police said.

A senior police officer said a "precautionary alert" has been issued for Mumbai.
