'Sachin Pilot a Gaddar… 10 crore was distributed': Ashok Gehlot

Ashok Gehlot's angst against Sachin Pilot is out in the open again. In one of the sharpest criticism of the fellow Congress leader, the Rajasthan chief minister on Thursday called Pilot a “gaddar" (traitor), during an interview with NDTV. Gehlot also attacked Pilot for not apologising to the party's high command over the revolt in 2020. Gehlot alleged that Pilot had met in Delhi with two senior Union ministers.

PIB fact check unit busted 1,160 fake news cases since 2019: Govt to Lok Sabha

The fact check unit of the Press Information Bureau busted 1,160 cases of false information since its inception in November 2019, union minister for information & broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur in reply to the Lok Sabha said on Tuesday. In 2019, 17 fake news were busted by the fact check unit, rising to 394 cases busted in 2020. In 2021, 285 instances of fake news were debunked, growing to 338 instances in 2022.

New Delhi: India is planning to send a sixth C-17 heavy lift transport aircraft with relief material and medicine to help earthquake hit Turkiye today with the aircraft carrying humanitarian aid flying a circuitous route via Iran as Pakistan does not give permission to Indian military aircraft. Equipment includes hand and power tools, lighting equipment, air-lifting bags, chainsaw, angle cutters, rotary rescue saw, victim location equipment, life detectors, etc.

India needs a biodiversity strategy that includes conserving landscapes that humans and wildlife share since only 15% of the country's top conservation priority areas are covered under the protected area network, a study published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Sustainability has recommended. Eighteen scientists led by Bengaluru's National Centre for Biological Sciences conducted the study, which was published on Monday. They have called for providing crucial ecosystem services such as carbon and water.

CBI arrests Hyderabad's CA, former aide of KCR's daughter, in Delhi liquor case: Report

The CBI on Wednesday arrested Butchi Babu Gorantla, a Hyderabad-based chartered accountant for his alleged role in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi excise policy, news agency ANI reported. Butchubabu Gorantla is believed to be a former aide of Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter MLC Kavitha whose name has already been dragged into the case. This is not the first time that the CA's name has come up in the case.

TN governor’s staff assaults cab driver; probe on: Police

A cab driver was allegedly assaulted by Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi's personal staff, police said on Tuesday, adding a probe has been started in the matter. A video of the incident shared on social media shows the driver and Thirugnana Sambandam, advisor of media and communication to the governor involved in a heated argument. Sambandam is heard asking the cab driver to stop recording the video and delete it. The driver had objected when Sambandam made him stop at multiple locations.

“The writ petition was filed first before the single judge bench of the high court, which transferred the case to CBI. The government went to the division bench which on Monday said that the petition was not maintainable and refused to grant protection. There is a grave urgency. If the CBI enters the investigation, everything will fail,” Dave said. (ANI)

Clashes erupt in parts of Kerala as Cong protests 2 cess on fuel

The Opposition Congress on Tuesday intensified its agitation against the state government's proposal to introduce ?2 cess on petroleum products and clashed with the police at several places across the state. In Kottayam district, Congress president Nattakom Suresh sustained injuries after a clash with police. Later, the district unit president alleged that the police pelted stones and attacked him without any provocation. Similar protests were reported from Thirssur, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram.

State medical board to monitor Chandy’s health, likely to be airlifted to B’luru hospital

In the evening it was decided that Former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy, 79, who is undergoing treatment for pneumonia will be airlifted to Bengaluru hospital on Wednesday. Health minister Veena George added chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan asked her to visit the ailing Congress leader. Chandy was hospitalised on Monday. A section of Congress workers and Chandy's relatives complained he was not getting proper treatment. His relatives alleged they were not allowed to meet him. The former chief minister will be airlifted to Bengaluru hospital on Wednesday.

The report is expected to provide information on historical responsibility for global warming and consumption patterns, Jim Skea, co-chair, Working Group, IPCC, and professor of sustainable energy at Imperial College London, said in an interview. It doesn't introduce any new information, but will draw out connections between the previous reports.
