  • Over 21. 5 runs. Bowler: Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Sri Lanka: 114/3(rr 5.43)
  • 20.4

FOUR! Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Angelo Mathews. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past long off for 4 runs. The four wraps up victory as Mathews punches the ball well down the ground and there's no stopping that one. Victory for Sri Lanka on a day which they have completely dominated from start to finish, they held India to just 112 all out, albeit after they were 29-7 and finished the job rather comfortably with the bat after a shaky start. The bowlers ruled the innings and each and every one played their part, Lakmal was probably the standout performer though with four wickets at the top of the order. India couldn't deal with the seam and swing and were didn't bat terribly but were definetely poor. Sri Lanka finished the job with the bat, Tharanga played a lovely innings and Mathews and Dickwella finished the job for them in style. It stops a run of 12 straight ODI defeats for Sri Lanka and is a huge result to give them their confidence back going into the final two games. They will take that confidence with them in hope of securing a result out of this series. India broke a number of unwanted records today, including the lowest ever poweplay score in ODI cricket, a day they will want to forget swiftly. The absence of captain Kohli may have been a factor in their defeat.

That is 101 for Sri Lanka off 132 balls.

FOUR! Hardik Pandya to Niroshan Dickwella. Length ball, middle stump on the front foot flick, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Back to back boundaries as Sri Lanka close in on the victory, he's flicked this one into the leg side well and it's another one-bounce four for Dickwella who is hitting the ball nicely.

  • 19.1

FOUR! Hardik Pandya to Niroshan Dickwella. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, well timed in the air under control past deep cover for 4 runs. Dickwella gets four as Pandya comes back on and bowls it wide giving him the freedom to throw his hands at the ball and hit it almost all the way to the ropes for a one-bounce four.

  • 17.5

FOUR! Jasprit Bumrah to Angelo Mathews. Length ball, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past third man for 4 runs, mis-fielded by Kumar. A poor piece of fielding from Kumar sums up India's day as he lets the ball through his hands and for four after Mathews cut the ball away nicely to backwards-point.

  • 15.6

Jasprit Bumrah to Angelo Mathews. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Dhoni.

  • 15.5

FOUR! Jasprit Bumrah to Angelo Mathews. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pushing, well timed past deep extra cover for 4 runs. A glorious shot from Mathews, it's not hard to tell he has been in good form recently as he punches the ball off of the back foot and through the off side this time. It runs away on the quick outfield for four runs.

  • 15.4

Jasprit Bumrah to Angelo Mathews. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Dhoni.

  • 15.3

FOUR! Jasprit Bumrah to Angelo Mathews. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. That is a real quality pull shot from Mathews who picks it early and guides it into the gap on the leg side. He's timed it too and it runs away for four. The Indian's are running out of ideas here.

  • 15.2

Jasprit Bumrah to Niroshan Dickwella. Back of a length, down leg side on the front foot defending, thick edge to third man for 1 run, fielded by Chahal.

  • 15.1

  • 14.6

FOUR! Hardik Pandya to Angelo Mathews. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, well timed past long on for 4 runs. That's a lovely punch down the ground from Mathews who picks up his first boundary. He's timed it well and it runs away past mid-off and mid-on. They move to within 37 of victory.

  • 13.6

Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Niroshan Dickwella. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot working, to square leg for 2 runs, fielded by Yadav.

  • 13.5

FOUR! Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Niroshan Dickwella. Length ball, to leg on the front foot flick, well timed in the air under control past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Four from the attacking minded Dickwella who flicks the ball across into the leg side, up and over the in field and it goes for the boundary. The positive mindset seems to be the best way to go about this chase, they're preventing themselves from getting stuck in a rut.

  • 13.4

  • 12.3

OUT! Caught. Hardik Pandya to Upul Tharanga. In-swinging length ball, middle stump on the front foot pushing, outside edge to slips, by Dhawan. Tharanga is out on 49 as he pushes at a straight ball that has shape and it takes the outside edge, going to Dhawan in the slips who just about takes it on the second attempt. He's probably done enough to get his team to the target easily enough but he would of liked to gets his 50 and press on to create a emphatic victory for Sri Lanka here.

  • 12.2

Hardik Pandya to Upul Tharanga. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot, shoulders arms to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Dhoni.

  • 12.1

FOUR! Hardik Pandya to Upul Tharanga. In-swinging back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Tharanga pulls Pandya away through the leg side and he's timed it well, watching the ball disappear to the boundary and it moves him onto 49.

  • 38.2

OUT! Caught. Perera to Dhoni. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep cover, by Gunathilaka. Dhoni had been playing really well, knowing when and where to play his shots, executing them perfectly. He lets it go with an ugly slog here though that he slices from outside the off stump. He's paid the price too as he finds the fielder at deep cover who takes an easy catch. It brings to an end a terrible performance from India who struggled throughout, Dhoni of course was the only shining star, racking up 65 of the total 112 runs. The bowlers were the real start of the show though, and in particular Lakmal who took four wickets with a devestating 10 over spell at the start of this innings. Sri Lanka should be able to chase this okay, the track is playing pretty well and as long as they see off the new ball okay then they should be alright. They took their chances when they were available and reviewed well. India will need a re-think come next game in terms of their batting.

  • 36.6

That is 103 for India off 224 balls.

  • 35.5

That is 50 for MS Dhoni off 78 balls.

  • 34.3

OUT! Bowled. Pathirana to Bumrah. Stock length ball, middle stump on the front foot flick, missed. Bumrah is gone as Sri Lanka have their breakthrough after he played all around a Pathirana ball. The pressure got to him and drew the big shot which was nowhere near the ball, it went straight through and knocked back his middle stump. It beigns India to their last wicket, I expect more of what we have seen in the last few overs between these two batsman.

  • 32.6

APPEAL! OUT changed by umpire to NOT OUT after REFERRAL. Pathirana to Bumrah. Stock length ball, outside off stump on the back foot defending, hit pad for no runs, appeal made for L.B.W. Bumrah survives the LBW shout as Pathirana traps him in front, the umpire gives it out but they review the decision and the impact is outside the off stump.

  • 25.3

OUT! Stumped. Perera to Yadav. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, missed to wicketkeeper, by Dickwella. The change has brought the breakthrough as Yadav is very well stumped by Dickwella who whips the bails off while Yadav's foot is on the crease line, but not behind it. The square-leg umpire takes the decision to the third umpire, who gives it out. Dhoni may want to play some shots now with the batting at the other end weakening.

  • 19.3

APPEAL! Verified by umpire after REFERRAL. Fernando to Dhoni. Length ball, outside off stump down the track flick, hit pad to slips for no runs, direct hit by Perera, appeal made for L.B.W. Dhoni survives a scare as Pradeep traps Dhoni LBW and it's a huge appeal from them. It's given out by the on field umpire and once again they review the decision, it's clipping the top of the stumps and is umpire's call. They retain their review again and Dhoni continues on. The Sri Lanka's remain all over the Indian batsman here.

  • 18.6

APPEAL! Lakmal to Yadav. Half volley, middle stump on the front foot flick, hit pad for no runs, fielded by Pathirana, appeal made for L.B.W. The LBW shout wraps up what is one of the best spells of ODI bowling I have witnessed. He gets a warm round of applause from the home crowd as they appreciate the quality they have just seen. He's bowled his 10 overs straight through and has got his team in a hugely dominating position.

  • 16.4

OUT! Caught. Lakmal to Kumar. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot defending, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by Dickwella. Lakmal has his fourth and it's Kumar who departs this time as he edges to Dickwella behind the stumps who takes his second catch. It really is brilliant bowling from Sri Lanka I can't emphasise it enough. The batsman has got himself in a little trouble this time, not using his feet well enough and the plan to keep Lakmal on has definitely paid off. Unsurprisingly, this is also India's lowest total after seven wickets in ODI cricket. Only Dhoni gives them any sort of chance of a decent total now you would think.

  • 15.4

APPEAL! Verified by umpire after REFERRAL. Fernando to Kumar. Length ball, off stump on the front foot pushing, bat-pad to silly point for no runs, appeal made for L.B.W. Another close call as they go up for LBW against Kumar this time, it's given not out and they go to review again. It's flicking the top of the stumps and it's umpire's call. Not out but Sri Lanka retain their review.

  • 15.2

OUT! Caught. Fernando to Pandya. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to slips, by Mathews. Sri Lanka have their sixth and the relentless assault continues, Pradeep picks up his second as he angled the ball back into Pandya. He pulled out of the shot last minute but the ball followed him and it took the outside edge, once again going to Mathews in the slips. What an incredible display of bowling we are watching here. The score is hard to believe, it is now the lowest Indian ODI score after the fall of six wickets, we've only had one batsman make it to double figures.

  • 13.2

OUT! Bowled. Fernando to Iyer. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, inside edge. Another wicket as Pradeep has his first, what are we witnessing here! Brilliant bowling as he has come on to replace Mathews and has kept the pressure on the Indians perfectly. They have the wicket of Iyer who had looked the most comfortable up until this point and it leaves Indian at an incredible 16-5.

  • 12.5

OUT! Caught. Lakmal to Pandey. Length ball, off stump on the front foot working, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to slips, by Mathews. Lakmal has another and it's his third wicket as the Indian's continue to collpase around the debutant. Pandey goes for just two as Lakmal catches him out trying to work the ball to the leg side and it's edged to Mathews in the slips. It's 16-4 now and the Sri Lankan's continue to be all over India here. What an effort we have seen after they won the toss and elected to bowl, this is one of the most inspired bowling performances they have shown us.

  • 11.3

APPEAL! Fernando to Iyer. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot working, hit pad for no runs, appeal made for L.B.W.

  • 8.5

OUT! L.B.W. Lakmal to Karthik. Length ball, off stump on the front foot pushing, hit pad. Another wicket falls for India as the superb bowling of Sri Lanka continues, both Lakmal and Mathews have been brilliant so far today and that one shaped back in from Lakmal, trapping Karthik in front of the stumps. The umpire gives it out on field this time and the batsman has to depart for an eighteen ball duck. The bowlers have been extraordinary today and fully deserve the position they have built themselve into. The run-rate is under one an over at the moment too, incredible. Karthik now holds the unwanted record of the longest Indian ODI duck.

  • 7.5

APPEAL! Mathews to Karthik. In-swinging yorker, off stump on the front foot pushing, hit pad for no runs, appeal made for L.B.W.

  • 6.1

OUT! Bowled. Kumar to Thirimanne. Back of a length, to leg on the front foot defending, inside edge. Kumar makes up for Bumrah's mistake by picking up the wicket of Thirimanne who inside edges the ball onto his stumps. Kumar is incredibly close to bowling a no-ball also, Tharanga's bat is in the way of the camera and that may have saved Kumar if nothing else. Sri Lanka are struggling at 19-2 now.

  • 4.1

OUT! Caught. NOT OUT changed by umpire to OUT after REFERRAL. Lakmal to Sharma. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, missed in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by Dickwella. Lakmal gets another wicket with an absolute beauty and it's Sharma this time that has to depart. He's prodded at the ball and the bowler and keeper go up for the appeal, once again it's given not out by the on-field umpire but the review shows a spike and he has to go. What a start this is for Sri Lanka who have bowled superbly so far and dismisses the openers in the process.

OUT! Caught. Bumrah to Gunathilaka. Length ball, to leg on the front foot Slog, outside edge to wicketkeeper, by Dhoni. Gunathilaka goes for just one as he swipes horribly at a decent ball from Bumrah and it takes a thin edge through to the keeper who takes a simple catch. It was a poor choice of shot and not what the Sri Lankan's will have been looking for early on in the innings here.

OUT! L.B.W. NOT OUT changed by umpire to OUT after REFERRAL. Mathews to Dhawan. Length ball, to leg on the front foot working, hit pad to slips, fielded by Thirimanne. What a start from the Sri Lankan's, both bowlers have held a good line in their first overs and it's paid off for them as Mathews traps Dhawan LBW. It was given not out on the field but they have reviewed the decision and it's definitely hitting the stumps, the decision is overturned and he's on his way back to the shed. An imposing start for Iyer on debut who comes to the crease with the score 0-1 from two overs.
