While an estimated 65.8 per cent of the voters had cast their ballots in the first phase polls held for 11 parliamentary and 77 assembly seats, 67.5 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise in the second leg of polls yesterday.
Chief Electoral Officer R Balakrishnan said in the second phase elections, 71.12 per cent of the voters in Jagatsinghpur parliamentary constituency had cast their votes while only 54.32 per cent of voters in Aska seat had exercised their franchise.
The percentage of polling in other eight constituencies was 70.77 (Mayurbhanj-st), 70.72 (Balasore), 70.56 (Kendrapara), 69.72 (Bhadrak-sc), 69.34 (Puri), 68.17 (Jajpur- sc), 65.73 (Cuttack) and 60.98 (Bhubaneswar).
In the bhubaneswar assembly constituency, only 40.22 per cent of the 4.23 lakh voters had cast their votes yesterday, he said.
Altogether 56.6 per cent of the state's electorate had cast their ballots in the 1999 parliamentary polls.
