Divorce when drunk, repent in leisure. The dictum has returned to haunt another couple in Orissa. Ershad, a resident of Kendrapara district, has also pronounced triple talaq on wide Nazma in a drunken state.

Only in April this year, Najma Bibi of Bhadrak district was reunited with her husband Sheikh Seru after the Supreme Court held that their marriage was valid.

Like Sheikh Seru, Ershad has also realized his drunken folly and is pleading with community members to let him live with his wife. Again, it is the Muslim religious leaders in Kendrapara who have announced their opposition.

Clerics say if Nazma wants to live with her husband, she must perform halala - wed another man, consummate the marriage, divorce him and then remarry her first husband. Quite natually, Nazma has refused.

The new triple talaq row has been brought to the notice of the State Women Commission (SWC). Namita Panda, chairperson of SWC, will visit Kendrapara on Monday to resolve the issue.
Nazma has already opposed the community's interference in her private life and cited the Supreme Court's directive in the Najma Bibi case back her argument.

Nazma and Ershad have two sons and a daughter.
