Controversial spiritual guru Asaram Bapu on Sunday denied rape charge by teenaged girl against him. He devoted much of his two-hour satsang time in Indore on the issue.

He said, “The allegation against me by the girl is false. Look at her age."

"Jab koi usko pirita kahta hai to pida hoti hai. Pirita to who hoti jiski pavitrata chin gayi ho. Who kya-kya lagti hai – poti, beti, bhatiji. (Whenever anybody uses the word victim for her, it hurts me. A victim is one whose purity has been stolen. She is like my granddaughter, daughter and niece)."

Asaram said that he was not going to seek anticipatory bail but was not averse of using legal aid, if required.

“This complaint does not stand a chance as it has been cooked up by some elements. They misguided our own sadhaks (followers) and lodged a fictitious complaint against me. However, these people will never succeed,” said Asaram.

He, however, refused to comment whether some political party was behind the whole issue. “Why should I tell you the truth behind the whole matter, let it be investigated,” he said.

The spiritual guru also tried to set to rest all speculations that he was fleeing from police.

"I saw on TV channels that police are coming to arrest me. I go on ekantvas frequently,” he said and asked where the police was.

“From time to time allegations have been leveled against me just because I propagate Indian culture in a special way,” he said when asked why was he always in centre of controversy.

Though he maintained that he had not come to Indore ‘secretly’ to seek anticipatory bail but for “the love for climate,” he also showed his closeness with BJP leaders like Chhattisgarh chief minister by asking his men to fix a date for satsang in the state “on the request of CM.”

Only a few days back, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and BJP national vice president Uma Bharati and another vice president Prabhat Jha had suspected a Congress conspiracy behind the rape allegation against Asaram Bapu.

Madhya Pradesh’s health minister Narottam Mishra had also 'expressed the confidence' that Asaram Bapu would prove to be innocent in the case.

Bharti had tweeted in support of Bapu saying that he is innocent and that he has been targeted for opposing Sonia Gandhi's family.

"Asaram Bapu is innocent. He is being targeted for opposing Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. False cases are being filed against him in Congress states. We are with Asaram Bapu," Uma tweeted.

Madhya Pradesh industries minister Kailash Vijaywargia on Sunday also alleged that the charge of sexual assault against Asaram Bapu could be "politically motivated" as he has been critical of top Congress leadership.

"Asaram is a saint. He openly speaks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. It might be possible that the charges against him are a part of a political conspiracy by Congress," Vijaywargiya said.

Earlier, in the evening Sikh Samaj people burnt the effigy of Asharam bapu in Indore for his comments on Guru Nanak.
