Describing the Bihar budget as 'nothing but lollipops', Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Rabri Devi on Wednesday said it has failed to come up to the peoples' expectations.
"The budget presented by Finance Minister Sushil Kumar Modi is disappointing, anti-poor, anti-dalit and anti-minorities," she said commenting on the Rs 47,446 crore surplus budget for 2009-10.
"There has been no specific provisions made in the budget for the uplift of the poor, minorities, labourers and farmers," she said adding the budget was for helping the lot of affluent sections of the society and the big traders.
Bihar's economy is based on agriculture and the 'poor' allocation for the sector in the budget has proved that the state government is not interested in promoting the sector, Rabri Devi, who is a former chief minister, said.
She also alleged that the state government had failed to allocate sufficient funds for mitigating the miseries of the people rendered homeless in the devastating floods of Kosi river last year.
