State secretary of the party Dr Syed Jamal admitted that in term of winning the seats party was in loss but in term of votes party has registered 35 per cent increase in comparison to the last municipal election. He hinted that Congress would organise a rally headed by party President Sonia
Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in Kanpur and Bareilly.

The party workers has launched mass contact programme to ensure the success of proposed Jail Bharo movement. District unit president of Congress Sanjeev Singh claimed that Jail Bharo movement against anti-people polices of SP led state government would consolidate the party position in forthcoming assembly election.

According to a report, during the movement party would also assess the capability of the possible contender for the party ticket from various assembly segments. Jail Bharo Movement before assembly election will be a thermometer to judge the strength and popularity of party workers in respective areas.

Senior party leaders Dr Sanjayan Tripathi claimed that around 5000 people from Kauriram assembly segment would participate in demonstration and movement on November 21.  

 Tripathi blamed State government for ignoring the region in allocation of funds and development projects.

Tripathi said he would continue his struggle for separate Purvanchal state and claimed that Congress party was in favour of small states.

Tripathi demanded to constitute State Reconstitution Commission and expressed hope that in light of the pressure mounted by TRS for Tilangana state and separate state for Bundelkhand, a new commissioner would be constituted soon and Purvanchal state would be constituted with these states.
