According to official sources, DM Rajiv Agarwal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Additional District Magistrate (Food and Supplies), RP Singh has been entrusted with the job of investigation and has to submit his report within three days. Meanwhile an official of the DM office is reported to have lodged an unnamed FIR against the Congress workers.

It may be mentioned that a large number of Congress activists barged inside the premises of the collectorate and ransacked the public property with police personnel looking as silent spectators.

These activists were demanding adequate vehicles for courting arrest in protest against the alleged misrule of the Mulayam government.
