"Government of the time and those involved in its planning did not foresee the serious repercussions of Operation Blue Star and I have no hesitation in saying that it was a historical blunder," the BJP General Secretary told reporters here.

When told that L K Advani in his autobiography "My Country My Life" had sought to justify the army action to flush out terrorists from the Golden Temple, Jaitley said the BJP stalwart had been presented out of context and "misconstrued".

Asked about the BJP's position on the operation, he said it has been very clear but refused to elaborate.
