A girl went to Madhya Pradesh two years ago to earn money and support her family. But, she returned on August 15, 2013 shocked, shaken and shattered with acid scars on her face.
Her 'employers' (who had hired her as a domestic help) sold her to flesh traders, who tortured her, raped her and attacked her with acid each time she refused to do their bidding.
Sunita (name changed), 20, somehow dodged her torturers and ran back to her parents alive.
She, a resident of a Giridih village, shared her ordeals and the story of hundreds of Jharkhand girls like her.
“I don't know how I survived from the clutches of the flesh traders. But they have ruined my face and life. The Jharkhand police should go to MP to arrest them and give them a similar treatment,” she told the police.
Her father Khero Tamar said two years ago, villagers Bhinwa Devi and her brother Prakash Pandit offered Sunita a domestic help’s job in Madhya Pradesh.
"Since the salary was attractive, we couldn't say no," said the middle-aged man, adding, "In MP, they sold my daughter to a flesh trader for Rs 50,000."
"Two months ago, they (her captors) threw acid on her face after an argument with her," he said.
Giridih police superintendent Kranti Kumar Gadidesi said the girl was still in a state of shock. She has been admitted to Giridih Sadar hospital.
The police have arrested Prakash Pandit and Bhinwa Devi for interrogation.
"We have to ascertain whether the scars are from the acid attack. Besides, we will have to wait for the victim to get stable and record her statement," the police chief said.
