Making Sonia PM is like re-establishing British rule: Rajnath
BJP leader and Union Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said any effort to make Sonia the PM of India is like 're-establishing British rule in the country'.
Raking up the foreign origin issue of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader and Union Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said any effort to make Sonia the Prime Minister of India is like "re-establishing British rule in the country".
"Making Sonia Gandhi Prime Minister of the country is like once again establishing British regime, against which freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad and Asfaq Ulla had shed their lives," he said addressing a public meeting here after filing of nomination papers by BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Rajiv Pratap Rudy from Chapra seat here.
Praising Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the BJP leader said, "Vajpayee is the tallest leader in the country today, who always cares for the welfare of people."
He appealed to the people to vote for Rudy to strengthen the hands of Vajpayee.
Bollywood star Anil Kapoor, who accompanied Singh to the meeting venue, was a big draw with the people.
Kapoor compared Rudy with the hero of his film "Nayak" and urged people to ensure his victory in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Chapra is expected to witness a keen contest between Rudy and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav.
More than two dozen district RJD workers joined BJP on the occasion.
