'PM should apologise'

Cine star Shabana Azmi said that Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee should apologies to the people of the country for the Lucknow stampede in which 22 women were killed.

The actress told newsmen said that the stampede took place at a function organised to mark the birthday of BJP leader Lalji Tandon and party flags were displayed at the venue of the incident .

She said that it was a clear cut violation of model code of conduct during the electioneering in the parliamentary constituency of the Prime Minister.

She said that the Prime Minister had recently admitted that he was tired by running coalition government of 22 political parties so he should step down .

Shabana said that she had come here to campaign for Suhasini Ali and added that she would do so for Kapil Sibal in Delhi.
