Rahul's style of campaigning irks Oppn - Congress
Dismissing the criticism of Mr Rahul Gandhi's observations during his poll campaign in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress says the Opposition parties were furious at the success of his roadshow.
Dismissing the criticism of Mr Rahul Gandhi's observations during his poll campaign in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress on Friday said the Opposition parties were furious at the success of his roadshow.
Congress Spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi said the style of Mr Gandhi's campaigning had irked the Opposition parties because previously they never took the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh seriously.
Mr Gandhi, he said, had made untiring efforts campaigning for the party and this was bound to affect the prospects of the party in the Assembly elections tremendously.
Mr Chaturvedi told mediapersons in New Delhi that the campaigning by the top leaders of the Congress had drawn the people towards the party. The campaigning was being led by Mr Gandhi.
The public meetings and the roadshow by him had instilled new energy to the party, particularly youths.
He pointed out that in his speeches Mr Gandhi had been emphasising the failure of the previous state governments during the last 18 years to do anything for the development of the state.
He claimed that 18 years ago when the Congress had left power in the state it was one of the fifth top prosperous states of the country, but now the state had receded into the 21st position as regards development.
Mr Gandhi, the spokesman said, had been appealing to the people during his roadshow to rise above communalism and casteism and make the development of the state an issue.
