'Secular coaliation govt would be formed at centre'

CPI general secretary A B Bardhan expressed confidence that a secular coalition government would be formed at the centre.

CPI on Thursday called upon people to defeat the NDA at the Centre and BJP-TDP combination in Andhra Pradesh to ensure establishing pro-poor, self-reliance and devoid of American-linked economic policy.

Addressing a public meeting of the party's candidate Syaik Nasaravali for Vijayawada west constituency, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan expressed confidence that a secular coalition government would be formed at the centre.

There was an urgent need to come out of the `double standard' talk of the BJP governnent at the centre to save India from communal politics and restore the normal code of Indian culture and ideologies, he said.

Bardhan said the policies pursuaded by NDA government had driven hundreds of farmers to commit suicides and due to open market policy adopted by the government there was no demand for Indian products and farmers were not getting remunerative prices for their produce.

"It was unfortunate that the suicide cases were more in Andhra Pradesh Pradesh, which was not being talked about by the government at the centre", he added.

Bardhan said that it was really unfortunate that people who have never participated in the freedom struggle, claim themselves to be patriots of the country.

"The same people who believed in RSS and Sangh Parivar ideologies try to implement the communal politics in the country. The result was Godhra incident in Gujarat which the Indian history would never forget. The Supreme Court recent order to reopen the case itself speaks plenty", he said.

"The person who was behind the Godhra incident episode, the Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi, was the respected of the leader of the BJP", he said.

Stating that BJP's communal politics has divided the country in the name of religion, caste and creed, Bardhan said it has also forced the people to fight on issues of mandir and masjid.

"The Indian people, who believe in unity in diversity, were being divided by BJP's communal policies. The same party which had back-stabbed muslims, is now trying to appease them for votes", he said.

The worst part of the politics was in Lucknow, where the Prime Minister's confident, during his birthday distributed saries where about 26 women died in the stampede and they (the BJP) take it as an ordinary incident, he said adding, the entire opposition requested the Election Commission to look into the issue as it amounted to subverting the election code of conduct by the BJP member.

"We will not leave it, we will fight to know the results", the CPI leader added. Bardhan also ridiculed the poll survey reports of different media, highlighting that BJP would get 360 seats.

"When the entire Indian people of 66 crore voters, spread over 545 constituencies, have to exercise their opinions these media people take version of some 3000-4000 people and come out with results", he said.

Bardhan said the 14th Lok Sabha election was not a fight between individuals, though BJP is trying to give more importance to a particular individual, it is an election to bring change in the present system which has driven Indian people to disunity.

Referring to Andhra Pradesh, Bardhan said that TDP was most corrupt in every sector and the huge amounts borrowed was being wasted only to make Hyderabad city as a show piece leaving the entire part of state with acute drinking water problem, unemployment and no medical care.

The state Chief Minister, who claimed to believe in secular policy, when mandir issue was included in the NDA agenda, he said he was not consulted on the issue before, Bardhan added.
