Shweta Prasad on movies and studies
Where did you vanish after Iqbal?
I was pretty much here. After Iqbal, I'd decided that I'll take a gap of a few years for studying. I was open to interesting projects though. I recently completed a Bengali project called Eti Din Golpo.
It's about a father-daughter relationship. I felt great about it because the film has shaped up well and is in my mother tongue. Now, I want to come back to the Bombay movies as a heroine. I'm looking forward to that.
Did Nagesh Kukunoor approach you for Bombay to Bangkok and Aashayein?
No, he didn't approach me for his films. I'm sure if he had something interesting, he would have called me. That's okay.
How do friends treat you in school?
Oh, they're uber cool. They don't treat me like a star or somebody from showbiz. That would have been the case if my friends weren't from showbiz.
They're are also associated with the showtown. So, I'm thankful to God that I don't have to be told by friends, "Oh stop your film talks.. please."
Do you wish to study further?
Right now, I'm preparing for my class 10 board exams. Then, I wish to study com merce and business management.
I intend to complete my education.. I don't know how will things happen. Films will continue to be my priority because I chose to make a career with them. I think films and my education will happen side by side.
Apparently, you're adding a Basu to your name.
(Chuckles) Who told you that? Yes, I want to add Basu to my name. I've always wanted to do that because it is my mother's maiden second name. I wanted my name to be Shweta Prasad Basu well before Makdee. But I was credited as Shweta Prasad there and in a bigger way in Iqbal.
So, now when I comeback to the movies as a heroine, I will be in a new look.. why not a new name and identity? So, I will be called Shweta Prasad Basu.
