A batch of 217 pilgrims departed from the Jammu base camp to the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir amid tight security arrangements here on Sunday.
As per police sources, the 38th batch of pilgrims, comprising 135 men, 31 women, 50 sadhus and a child, left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 5am. The convoy included eight vehicles.
With Sunday's batch, 50,983 pilgrims have left for Amarnath so far.
Sources said another batch of 520 pilgrims, comprising 390 men, 51 women and 79 sadhus, left the Pahalgam base camp on the traditional route of the yatra. Another batch of 527 pilgrims, comprising 483 men, 43 women and a sadhu, left the Baltal base camp for the holy cave.
