Togadia slams appeasement, resorts to population politics
VISHWA HINDU Parishad international general secretary Praveen Togdia said political parties were giving undue importance to the minorities and ignoring the majority community.
VISHWA HINDU Parishad international general secretary Praveen Togdia said political parties were giving undue importance to the minorities and ignoring the majority community.

The firebrand leader was expressing his views as the chief guest at the Dharm Raksha Nidhi Samarpan programme organised by the VHP’s district unit at Vidya Bhawan on Wednesday.
He advised Hindus to concentrate on increasing their population to counter minority appeasement policies.
Togdia said a sharp rise in population of Hindus would increase prosperity. “To grab power, we have to make 10,000 members in each assembly segment,” he said, adding the VHP would support those forces which worked for the Hindus. He claimed the VHP planned to convert 12 crore Muslims and two crore Christians to Hinduism.
Earlier, addressing a public meeting at Barhalganj, Togadia questioned why bomb blasts took place in temples and not in mosques in India.
“We have been fighting against terrorism in Kashmir for the last two decades. Now, terrorism has reached Kashi.”
He said other State Governments should learn from the Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat which had “smashed terrorism”.
He condemned demonstrations against publication of caricatures and wondered “why Muslims did not stage protests in European countries”.
He said members of the majority community were killed for over five days during the Mau communal riots.
Togadia appealed to Hindus to deposit a percentage of their earning for protection of their religion. He described this as the duty of every member of the community. Former BJP MP and Gorakhnath temple head priest Mahant Avaidyanath also addressed the gathering and stressed the need for unity in the majority community. He said as along as the caste system prevailed, it would be difficult for the community to unite.
