According to the CBI, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax KC Chugh and Inspector SK Chopra were arrested by the CBI for allegedly taking bribe from a jeweller after threatening to seal his shop for some irregularities in the gold stocks.

According to the CBI, Chugh, who will be retiring on January 31, had gone along with Chopra to the jeweller's shop on January 20 and demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh, which was later negotiated to Rs 2.5 lakh.

Chugh then allegedly called the jeweller last Saturday and asked him to pay Chopra Rs 50,000 as the first instalment towards the settled bribe amount.

It was then that the CBI laid a trap and arrested the two. They will now be produced before the designated court on Monday.
