Indore civic body showers prizes on advance taxpayers
Indore civic body showered prizes ranging from a Maruti Alto car, Activa scooters, LED TVs, laptops and washing machines to advance taxpayers. The winners were selected through a draw of lots.
Their enthusiasm and confidence helped Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) notch up first quarter advance tax earnings of almost Rs 90 crore in FY '14.
Suitably grateful, civic bosses showered prizes ranging from a Maruti Alto car, Activa scooters, LED TVs, laptops and washing machines to advance taxpayers at a ceremony on Friday. The winners were selected through a draw of lots earlier.
Some 90 advance taxpayers benefited from the Corporation's largesse during the lucky draw presided over by Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe and municipal commissioner Rakesh Singh.
The winners were culled from 98,587 property owners and 33,035 water consumers who deposited taxes for 2013-14 in advance, i.e. till or before June 30. People who pay taxes in advance are also eligible for a 6.25 per cent tax rebate.
