Following that, they play their first home game of the season in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9. The celebratory function is being organised one day after their first home game.

It was learnt recently that Malinga and compatriot Asela Gunaratne would miss Mumbai Indians’ opener in Pune because of national team duty. Sri Lanka plays the second of its two-match T20I series against Bangladesh on April 6, the same day Mumbai Indians face Rising Pune Supergiant.
