In a blow to Asaram Bapu, the Jodhpur police on Wednesday said charges levelled against the self-styled godman by the 16-year-old girl were likely to be true.
The police said they had not found any contradiction between the statements of the girl and evidences gathered during investigation.
"The charges levelled by the victim have also been confirmed during the interrogation of warden and caretaker at Chhindwara," said deputy commissioner of police Ajay Pal Lamba.
The police have also rejected Asaram's plea seeking more time for making an appearance for interrogation on August 30.
The hostel warden and a caretaker from the gurukul in Chhindawar where the girl was studying have been asked to appear before police on Thursday.
Jodhpur police also dispatched its factual report of the case to the ministry of home affairs.
"We have sent the detailed report in the Asaram case required by the home ministry," a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, sparking another row, Asaram's son Narayan Sai said the teenage victim was "mentally unstable".
"She used to take around two to two-and-half hours to bathe. And even during recess while in Chhindwara gurukul in Madhya Pradesh, she took 45 minutes. She seemed to be mentally unstable. To solve this problem, the parents of the girl accompanied her from Chhindwara to Jodhpur to take her to Asaram Bapu," Sai said, to his supporters in Rajkot.
