The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a report from the UP government regarding the ‘sexist’ remarks made by Narendra Bhati against suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal.

Lucknow-based social activist Dr Nutan Thakur had filed a complaint before the NCW in this regard.

Commission chairperson Mamata Sharma has sent a letter to Jawed Usmani, UP chief secretary, asking him for a detailed report in the matter. The commission said it would take further action after getting the report.Thakur had objected to Bhati’s comments in which he had said: “Is aurat ne itni behudgi yahaan ki us dand ko chaalees minute nahi jhel paayi” (this woman who acted with such absurdity could not sustain the wrath for 40 minutes)”.
