The weekend is always an excuse to party hard, and when April Fool’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Capital gears to amp up the fun quotient. Restaurants in the city have come up with innovative offers and quirky deals to make this day of fools even more interesting. With a line-up of discounts, out-of-the-box dishes and cocktails, Delhi’s quite the prankster. “We believe in Bura Na Mano April’s Fool Day hai. Share your pranks on our Facebook wall, and the one we like the most will get complimentary meal at our restaurant,” says Vikas Sachdeva, owner of Manhattan Bar Exchange Reloaded in Gurgaon. They are also offering an inside-out vada pao dish where the pav is the filling and the vada makes the outer covering, and also, a special Fool’s Day Out Drink.
If you think you have it in you to fool the staff at Uncultured Café & Bar in Kailash Colony, you can get a 10% discount. And, if you manage to keep fooling them each time, they’ll add an extra 10% discount to the bill. If you want to fool your friend who says no to meat, this one’s for you. Cafe Yell in Defence Colony Market has come up with a pizza that is shaped like a fish, but is actually pure vegetarian.
“April Fool’s Day is a day to have fun and laugh with your friends. Life gives you so many stressful moments but there should be some moments that bring curiosity, excitement, enthusiasm and fun,” says Inderjeet Banga, of Prankster in Gurgaon. Here, you can try a couple of prank dishes, like the Pao Bhaji Zinger. Guests are served burgers placed under Rubik’s Cubes. The catch here? There will be four cubes, but only three burgers on the table. Whoever gets the empty cube will have to play a game of truth or dare.
“I feel April Fool’s Day pranks are those light-hearted moments to enjoy with your friends and families. We have introduced funny drinks and innovative food which might fool you,” says Manish Sharma of Molecule in Gurgaon. They have a special drink for married men called Khula Pinjra. Additionally, they also have a dish made of paneer that looks like a piece of flaming coal.
The buck doesn’t stop here. At Fantom Bar Exchange in Gurgaon, wear your quirkiest T-shirt with the funniest one-liners; the more the humour quotient, more the chances of winning pints of beers.
