1. Preeti Jain gets 3 yrs in jail for plotting to kill Madhur Bhandarkar, gets bail
The city civil and sessions court sentenced model Preeti Jain to three years in jail and fined her Rs10,000 for plotting to murder film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar, against whom she had earlier registered a rape case. Two of her associates – Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das – too were sentenced to three years on charges of conspiracy, aiding and abetting crime. The trio was, however, granted bail on cash surety of Rs15,000. They have been given four weeks to file an appeal in the Bombay high court.
2. No proof that Salman Khan’s bodyguard assaulted a 25-year-old: Mumbai cops
The DN Nagar police, who had registered a first information report (FIR) against Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard Gurmeet Singh, better known as Shera, and three of his aides for allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old, recently termed the case ‘false’. They are likely to file a ‘B summary’ report in the case, which means there is no evidence against the accused.
3. Eman Ahmed’s sister goes against doc’s advice, gives her water to drink
Doctors at Saifee Hospital, which is treating Egyptian Eman Ahmed to reduce her weight, called the police on Thursday evening after the woman’s sister allegedly fought with the nurses and “violated rules”. However, police said enquiries revealed that all was well.
4. Mumbai court to record Radhe Maa’s statement in dowry harassment case
The Mumbai police has been directed to record a fresh statement of self-styled spiritual leader Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa in connection with a dowry harassment case. Niki Gupta, in a complaint filed last year, accused Radhe Maa of instigating her in-laws to harass her for dowry.
