Ward boy gets 10 yrs for raping mentally challenged patient
Court also fined the guilty Rs15,000, which will be handed over to the survivor...
A court in Pune convicted a ward boy, employed at a private hospital, and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a woman in the hospital. As many as 23 witnesses, including the survivor, were examined during the hearing. Special Judge Mangala Dhote held Subhash Bhausaheb Modad guilty of raping a 22-year-old mentally challenged woman. The court also fined Modad Rs15,000, which will be handed over to the survivor. The court, however, acquitted the hospital owners for lack of evidence proving their involvement in the crime. The husband-wife duo, both doctors, were accused of trying to cover up the crime instead of informing the police.
