To gather more evidence against Mohamed Salim Ansari, 27, the accused who threatened to kill the 22-year-old photojournalist with a piece of beer bottle and raped her first, the police are looking for the clothes he wore on the day of the incident to send it for forensic testing.

On Monday, seeking Ansari's remand, a crime branch officer told the court that they need to interrogate all the accused together.

Ansari had escaped to Delhi and was hiding at a relative's place when he was arrested on Sunday. His plan had been to flee the country.

The police have already seized his mobile phone, using which Ansari had taken photos of the survivor. The crime branch has said that it will check all his mobile data and call data records to figure out the chain of events that took place.

The remand application said Ansari raped the survivor twice and that after all five accused raped her, he asked her to clear the crime scene so as to ensure that no evidence was left behind.

Ansari will also have to undergo a medical test.

After hearing the police, the court remanded Ansari in police custody till September 5.
