Rakesh Murudkar, the younger son of the deceased, alleged, “My father was quite depressed since past few weeks. When we asked him about the reason, he told me assistant police inspector Ghanshyam Patil from Bandra was harassing him. He said Patil had been loading him with extra work. He was so stressed that he had applied for VRS. I have informed the deputy commissioner of police about the same.”

Aswati Dorje, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 5, said, “Rakesh told us that his father was being harassed by Patil. We are investigating the case from all angles.”

She added that Murudkar had applied for VRS last month on ground of ‘deteriorating physical and mental condition’.

When questioned about the allegation, API G Patil, said, “How can extra work drive someone to commit suicide? He looked tense even while at work. I have no clue what was the reason behind the stress.”

Murudkar, who resided on the first floor of a six-storey building, jumped around 8.45am, said Mahim police.

“The family rushed him to Raheja Hospital where he was declared dead,” said assistant inspector Bhagwan Kadam from Mahim police station.
