Twelve teachers from the unaided primary section of SCD Barfiwala School in Andheri are alleged still being paid as per the old scale.

“We get paid around Rs3 lakh annually. According to the rules, we should get at least Rs4 lakh ,” said one of the teachers.

The teachers had complained to Ravindra Bhise, education officer of the BMC, last week.

Bhise met school authorities and asked them to implement the latest pay scale soon.

Even the school’s parent teacher association (PTA) had submitted a signed petition in support of the teachers to the school and the department.

“The PTA does not have any objection to a reasonable fee hike to pay these teachers,” said a PTA member.

However, the school management has maintained that they will increase the salaries only after they receive a written order from the department.

“To pay teachers as per the latest scale, we will have to hike our fees by at least Rs500 per month. This might not be agreeable to all the parents,” said Bharat Valia, trustee of the school.
