You must’ve heard Jubin Nautiyal’s melodious voice in popular songs such as Kaabil Hoon (Kaabil, 2017), Humma Humma (Ok Jaanu, 2017), Bandeyaa (Jazbaa, 2016), Tere Liye (Fitoor, 2016) and Zindegi Kuch To bata (Bajrangi Bhaijaan, 2015). Having made a name for himself in the music industry, the singer says he’s happy to have tasted success, but went through struggling times before that.
“Making my presence felt in Bollywood was one hell of a journey. So, it feels wonderful when people appreciate my work and shower love [on me]. I don’t want to sound pompous, but I am satisfied with whatever I have achieved so far,” says Jubin, who hails from Dehradun.
At a time when there is no dearth of singing talent in the industry, how does Jubin deal with the growing competition? “My competition is always with my previous song. Each time I start working on a new track, I try to make it better than my last one. I believe in breaking barriers with my [own] work and creating a niche of my own music, which is different from other people’s work. I am also choosy about the kind of work I want to get associated with. I only take up projects that I feel I can do justice to,” says the singer.
Among his contemporaries, Jubin really likes Arijit Singh’s mellifluous voice. “He is a dear friend and I’m a big fan of his music. With the kind of work Arijit has done, and is still doing, he has created an amazing journey. I think he is one of the best in the business, currently. He has this lasting impression on every music lover,” he says.
