Commonwealth champion Sunil Kumar (51kg) and Kuldeep Singh (75kg) notched up comprehensive wins as Indian boxers had an all-win day at the AIBA 3 Star China Cup in Guiyang City on Tuesday.
Sunil defeated Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu Chen 9-2, while Kuldeep got the better of Mongolian Narmanvakh Shinebayar 11-3.
Sunil established an early 4-0 lead and didn't let his opponent land a scoring punch in the first two rounds.
Two-time national champion Kuldeep, on the other hand, attacked mostly in the final three minutes after taking a comfortable 6-3 lead in the first two rounds, Indian Boxing Federation Secretary General Col P K Muralidharan Raja told PTI.
The duo joined Olympian Diwakar Prasad (60kg) in the quarterfinal of the ranking points tournament, which features 102 boxers from 19 countries, including traditional powerhouses Cuba, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Tomorrow, Diwakar will be in action against Frenchman Farhany Radouane while Kuldeep will be up against local favourite Wu Xiaolu.
India is already assured of a medal in the tournament through light heavy weight (81kg) boxer Jasveer Singh, who got a bye into the semifinals yesterday.
Jasveer will take on Chinese Meng Fen Long in the final-four round.
