The Delhi Police on Monday filed a chargesheet in a court in the national capital, accusing Congress leader Shashi Tharoor of abetting the suicide of his wife, Sunanda Pushkar. Tharoor, the only person who has been arrayed as an accused in the case, termed the Delhi Police’s action “unbelievable” and called the chargesheet “preposterous”. Family members and relatives mourn the death of a kin who died in a wall collapse during last night’s thunderstorm at Digha, Patna. More than 70 people, including 42 in UP, were killed in six states as dust storms, torrential rain and lightning battered large parts of the country since Sunday, officials said on Monday amid a warning of storms and squalls in the north and northwest regions in the next 48 hours. The CBI on Monday filed its first charge sheet in the country’s largest financial scam worth over Rs 2 billion in Punjab National Bank by billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, detailing the alleged role of the bank’s former chief Usha Ananthasubramanian, who is now Allahabad Bank CEO and MD, officials said.
