Karate trainer dies due to suffocation after his speeding car falls into canal in Pune

The accident occurred at around 6.30 am on Sunday when the vehicle crashed into the railings of the bridge and fell at least 20 feet deep into the canal.

A karate trainer died after his speeding car skidded off the Sonar bridge and plunged into a canal near Phursungi, said police officials.

The accident occurred at around 6.30 am on Sunday when the vehicle crashed into the railings of the bridge and fell at least 20 feet deep into the canal.When the accident happened there was no one present on the bridge. The deceased was identified as Nitin Kumbhar who was working with the Angel High School in Loni Kalbhor as a a Karate trainer, said police officials.

Kumbhar according to officials, died due to suffocation, as he couldn’t come out of the car after the doors got locked.

According to fire bridge officials, residents on their morning walk found the railings of the bridge broken. When they looked down, they saw a car in the canal. Immediately, they informed the fire brigade department.

Senior officials from the fire bridge department, said,“As soon as we got information about the accident, our team rushed to the spot with a crane and other materials and managed to lift the car out of the canal. Later, with the help of locals, we managed to recover the body from the car.”

The body was handed over to members of the deceased’s family, who reached the spot after receiving information about his death.
