Dehlon police on Tuesday booked a government schoolteacher for sexually exploiting minor girl students in the school toilet.
The accused identified as Bant Singh (58), a resident of Ahmadgarh, is at large. He is social studies teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Jadtoli, and only three months of his service were left.
A case has been registered against him following the statement of father of a minor victim. A resident of Jadtoli, her father stated that the teacher used to sexually exploit minor girls, including his daughter in the school. He had even threatened them of expulsion from school, if they shared anything with anyone.
He added that his daughter remained mum over the problem for many days, but on Tuesday she narrated the series of incidents to him. She told that the accused used to follow her to the toilet and molest her. He did the same with other girls, he alleged.
ASI Jaswinder Singh, who is investigating the matter, “Soon after receiving the complaint, police have booked the accused under Section 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Police have launched a manhunt for his arrest.”
Neighbour held for trying to rape minor
In yet another case of crime against minors, a 22-year-old youth attempted rape on a 16-year-old girl on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. When the victim raised an alarm, the accused fled from the spot but was later arrested by the police.
The accused has been identified as Roshan Singh, 22, who tried to rape the girl when she was sleeping on the roof of her house in Chuharwal village of Meharban. Meharban police have lodged a case under Sections 376/511 (attempt to rape) of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Sexual Offence against Children Act.
The accused, who was produced before the court on Wednesday, has been sent to judicial custody. The case has been registered following the statement of the victim’s father. He complained that his daughter was sleeping on the roof of the labour quarters when the accused struck there and forced himself upon her.
Assistant sub-inspector Gurdyal Singh, investigating officer, said the accused tried to flee from the city to evade arrest before he was held. A total of 15 cases of sexual assault on minors have been reported in the city in the past two months.
