Badshahpur’s Singh gets berth

Finally, Badshahpur assembly constituency, the largest amongst all four constituencies of Gurgaon district, gets its due representation in the state cabinet led by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Finally, Badshahpur assembly constituency, the largest amongst all four constituencies of Gurgaon district, gets its due representation in the state cabinet led by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Rao Narbir Singh, 55, who emerged as the winner on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from Badshahpur, which has mushrooming posh condominiums, was inducted into the cabinet in Panchkula on Sunday.

During the previous assembly elections, Congress’ Rao Dharampal, 75, was elected as MLA from Badshahpur but was not awarded a cabinet berth or any key portfolio in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s government.

However, Gurgaon constituency from where Umesh Aggarwal (44) won with highest-ever margin of 84,095 votes, did not get any berth in the cabinet on Sunday. Aggarwal’s nearest competitor Gopi Chand Gehlot from Indian National Lok Dal got only 22,011 votes. Gurgaon’s previous MLA, Sukhbir Singh Kataria, was an independent candidate who handled the sports and youth affairs portfolio in the state.

Narbir Singh was initially seen as a ticket aspirant from Gurgaon assembly constituency before being shifted to Badshahpur.

Speaking to HT, after taking oath in Panchkula, Rao Narbir Singh said that the key agenda on his mind was the formation of Gurgaon Development Authority and providing connectivity to the people of Old Gurgaon.
