CBSE directs schools to observe math week

Central Board of Secondary Education has directed schools to observe the Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations and Training (GANIT) Week from December 16 to 22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
In a circular issued on December 8, CBSE has directed schools to upload a report of activities undertaken during the week on the school's website.
A report highlighting the activities must also be sent to be sent to the board's deputy director Subhash Chand by e- mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by post at Sh. Subhash Chand, Deputy Director, CBSE, Shiksha Sadan, 17, Institutional Area, Rouse Avenue, New Delhi-110002.
"To make mathematics interesting, we need to conduct these kind of activities as this is a very scoring subject. I appreciate this move by the board as this activity will prove beneficial for the students," said Manju Bhalla, a teacher in a private school.
December 16: Lecture on mathematics by eminent mathematicians
December 17: Essay competitions
December 18: Quiz competitions
December 19: Experience sharing on innovation by teachers and students
December 20: Screening of films produced by Vigyan Prasar
December 22: Origami and poster competition to be followed by a formal culmination function
