
Great Khali, foreign wrestlers entertain audience in Ludhiana
International wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as Great Khali, won the heavyweight championship match in which he defeated two prominent international wrestlers Brody Steele and Apollo Leon on Saturday at Guru Nanak Dev Stadium.
Rains played spoilsport during the evening hours, and as a result wrestling matches were played in heavy rains.
The number of spectators were also few.
Institute of Khali
Utter chaos was witnessed during the match and mis-management of the organisers was evident. The event was organised by Great Khali and Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE), a Jalandhar based institute for budding wrestlers, a project of Khali.
The first contest was between Harman and Crimson. Harman defeated Crimson with ease, but after the fight Brody Steele and Apollo Leon came in the ring and pounced on Harman.
Brody Steele after the fight started slogans hailing United States and the audience sitting around the ring raised ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans.
The next match was held between Rahul and Raghu versus Apollo, but both the Indian wrestlers were defeated. Apollo Leon won the match in few minutes and cleared the ring.
Different matches between women wrestlers and tag team matches were staged. All the matches were held in heavy rainfall where wrestlers were slipping and were not able to fight properly.
The marquee contest
At the end, the high voltage match was held between Jindal Maat and Brody Steel. Khali entered the rink and start beating both the foreign wrestlers.
Hundreds of spectators raised slogans in favor of Khali.
