The accused in the Haryana Civil Services (HCS, judicial) recruitment scam tampered with the evidence and documentary records pertaining to the leak of the question paper, police investigation has revealed.

The examination for 109 HCS (judicial) posts was conducted on July 16, 2017. Following a petition in the high court in August 2017, an HC probe panel had found that the paper got leaked.

As per the supplementary challan filed in court on July 19, the hard copy of the HCS paper was burnt, put in a polythene bag and thrown away at a vacant plot in Anita Gemini Park, Delhi. The burnt material was even sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for analysis, however, they returned it stating that they had no facility to examine the burnt material.

A copy of the challan will be supplied to the accused, including Congress leader Sunil Chopra, Kuldeep, brother of beneficiary and alleged mastermind Sunita, and Aayushi, Sunita’s roommate, on the next date of hearing, August 8.

‘Don’t give recorded conversation details to accused’

It was also stated that one Jitender threw the laptop used by accused Kuldeep, in a canalnear Baba Mastnath, Rohtak in Haryana.

Meanwhile, the role of the Congress leader was further corroborated by the DVD containing a recorded conversation between him, Aayushi, Asha (Sunita’s friend) and Gopal, a worker at the mandir which Titu headed. The DVD is currently in police possession and has been provided as part of the challan.

The police, in specific, has requested, that the said conversation or recordings may not be provided to the accused, by the court, since they may hamper with investigation.

Congress leader forged register entries

Not only that, it has further emerged that besides arranging rooms for candidates in the guest house during the leak, Chopra also helped remove the material for the paper leak from Sunita’s room (Room no 6) and sent it to Delhi.

As per the challan, he arranged two candidates in the process and also made false entries about their stay in the register of a temple in Sector 19, of which he is the president. The same was proved as per a statement given under Section 164 of CrPC by Arun, the record-keeper of the temple.

Interestingly, Sunita even arranged one of the meetings with the candidates at Sindhi Sweets, in Sector 17, Chandigarh.
