Showing resentment over the punishment to their classmate, the students of 10+2 class of local Sainik School escaped from the school to spend their night in a temple of the city. The school administration had declared the day-off for the students due to festival of Rakhi.
However, today, the boys were taken back by the school after the school management informed the parents by calling them to the school. Students however refused to comment on their act to the media-persons, when asked.
Reportedly, they went to local Guruduwara but the staff there refused to accommodate them and later they presented themselves as the players and managed to arrange shelter for them in the local Shiv Mandir temple.
Sources revealed that one of the students from science stream of 10+2 was punished by the school authorities and then to protest against the punishment and to exhibit their unity they took the step of escaping from the school. The students were also counselled by the prominent citizens throughout the day.
Sainik School Registrar Ajay Negi said that one of the students had misbehaved with the school headmistress Lt Col Samita Mishra who then reported the matter to the Principal who then scolded the student.
“The students were attending special coaching classes in the first session and during second session, some of the students were found missing. When they were quizzed on the absence, one of the students misbehaved with the headmistress who is also the academic head of the school. Such type of discipline is unacceptable in the school famous for indiscipline and can’t be overlooked,” Negi said.
He also confirmed that the students escaped by scaling the boundary wall.
“We informed their parents who brought the students back and they apologized. The students were taken back after their parents also gave an undertaking that such incident would not happen again. We have also appealed the parents to cooperate with the school management to make their wards disciplined,” said the school Registrar.
The whole school staff remained busy today to counsel the students and make them realised about their fault. It is worth mentioning that School is famous for producing disciplined students suitable for armed forces.
