On the issue of public outbursts by Amritsar East MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu regarding functioning of state government and BJP state leadership, the state BJP chief Kamal Sharma today opted ‘playing safe’ by sticking to two words only, ‘No Comments’.

He was here to address meeting of executive members of Jalandhar (North) rural BJP district organised at village Puranpur.

When the reporter approached him on his arrival to the venue, he reacted “You people are here with the series of questions on Navjot Sidhu. I was expecting it.”

Sharma was accompanied by state general secretary Rakesh Rathore and state vice president Vijay Sampla.

Later, while interacting with the HT; on questions, do party consider it as indiscipline? Would contacting National party chief by her after bypassing the state leadership set wrong precedent for others to follow? She alleged that you being versed with her problems never tried to redress the issues; Sharma kept his words and replied, ‘No Comments.’

“Rathore, who is also the Amritsar district in-charge of BJP, has spoken to her and till I interact with her, I will not utter any word on the issue,” he said, while trying to hide his sentiments with smile.

During official media-interaction, when this reporter questioned the indifferences being erupted in BJP and SAD party-workers especially in Jalandhar; by specifically pointing the meeting of district Akali Dal held in Jalandhar on August 19 in which each and every speaker bashed BJP leaders for non-cooperation, the BJP state supremo kept mum for minutes and later instead of replying, started briefing agenda of his visit.

By again pointing, he replied, “I do not think so there is any indifference between the allied parties at cadre level. This is media hype only.”

On question of failure of BJP to protect the interests of urban voters, the traditional vote bank of BJP so far, the BJP president said, “All the voters are with the party. Through media reports only mood of urbanites can’t be judged; wait for elections, everything would be crystal clear.”

The state president also preferred to be evasive on the question of delay of appointing presidents of Jalandhar and Mukerian BJP district. The reply was, “Sooner we will announce the name.”

When the reporters reminded him about the same reply given by him six months earlier; Sharma kept mum again and stuck to his words with smile, “sooner.”
