Sangrur: Police recover 400 bottles of country made liquor

Sangrur police on Tuesday recovered 400 bottles of country made liquor in two separate incidents here and have registered cases under sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act.

Sangrur police on Tuesday recovered 400 bottles of country made liquor in two separate incidents here and have registered cases under sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act.

In the first incident, the police recovered 160 bottles of country made liquor from the residence of one Gogi Singh (32) at Dharamgarh. Head constable Gursewak Singh told HT that on getting a tip off, the police raided his residence. The police have booked Gogi, who is absconding.

In the second incident, the police recovered 240 bottles of country made liquor at Longowal and have registered a case against 'unknown persons'.

Talking to HT, inspector Harmeet Singh said the police were on a routine check of vehicles at Sheron-Kila Bharia link road when some unknown persons left their Honda city car bearing registration number HR 03 F 5374 on seeing them and ran away.

On searching, the police recovered the liquor from the car. No arrests have been made so far.
