In a tragic incident, a six-year-old boy was mauled to death by an uncontrolled stray bull in New Sheetal Nagar in Jalandhar on Thursday.

Dinesh, father of deceased Shivam, said his son was playing outside the house when the incident took place.

The victim was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The incident has again thrown light on the lackadaisical attitude of Jalandhar municipal corporation (MC) in controlling the stray animals’ menace in the city.

A few days ago, an uncontrolled bull trashing a passerby in Basti Nau market was also reported.

Station house officer (SHO) of police station-1 Navdeep Singh said though the police reached the spot after learning the incident, the family refused to file a complaint against anyone.

Area councillor Jaspal Kaur Nagra said she has asked mayor Sunil Jyoti to provide compensation to the aggrieved family.

Stray cattle menace is one of the biggest problems that city residents have to face on a daily basis.

In July last year, an Uttrakhand man on his way to Amritsar died while his friend got critically injured after their he lost control of the car while trying to avoid stray cattle in Maqsudan area.
