Superintendent at the finance department-1 Vimal Trikha, who had entered into an altercation with IAS officer Adapa Karthik at the UT secretariat on Thursday, has been suspended. The verbal spat between the two was over clearance of a pending file.

When finally given the files, the officer had asked for some changes to be made.

To this, Trikha had reportedly told Karthik that he should give in writing what were the changes required.

This had led to an argument that flared up with work being suspended for more than two hours.

Keeping in mind that employees had threatened to go on strike if Trikha was suspended or issued a showcause notice, the orders were issued late on Friday evening withSaturday, Sunday being non-working days in the secretariat.

Special Secretary (home) SB Deepak Kumar confirmed the orders.

Employees claimed that they would soon hold a meeting and decide their next course of action.

After Thursday’s verbal spat, more than a 100 employees had gathered outside the adviser’s office to protest against Karthik.

The adviser had listened patiently to the employees and had assured the employees that no injustice would be done.
