Three booked for illegal sand mining

The Mehatpur police on Tuesday booked Baldev Singh, a resident of Salema village, Amrik Singh, a resident of Malerkotla, and Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Cheeknna village of Rupnagar, for illegal sand mining.

Block mining officer Pawan Kumar complained to the police that the accused violated order of the Punjab and Haryana high court and Punjab Mining Act. Station house officer (SHO) Manjit Singh said a case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and sections 120-B and 379 of the IPC has been registered against the tiro.

Their Fork line machine and a truck loaded with illegal sand has been impounded.
