Any incidents of eve-teasing, harassment or other crimes against women can be reported on the helpline number which will be managed by the government along with the help of state police.
According to ‘Crimes in India 2013’, a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Jharkhand saw a total of 5410 incidences of crimes against women in 2013.
Aarti Behera, a women’s rights activist in the state feels that the initiative by the government will be helpful.
“The helpline will be a great relief for women and girls who face incidences of harassment on a regular basis but do not report it,” she said.
