It’s going to shower box office numbers for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. While most trade pundits have expected the film to register recording opening everywhere upon release, it has created a box office miracle even before release in North America. According to Great India Films, the US distributor of the film, the advance ticket sales have already eclipsed the highest Indian grossing film (of any language) on opening day.
It has been officially confirmed that $3 million (Rs 19 crore approx) club has already been breached and tickets are being sold at $100,000 (Rs 64 lakhs) every hour. Scheduled to release in around 9000 screens worldwide on Friday, Baahubali 2 will have the biggest release ever for an Indian film. In India, it will open in 6500 screens and will simultaneously release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Considering its wide release, trade pundits believe the film is expected to take an earth-shattering opening on the first day. Some believe it could be the first Indian film to breach the Rs 1000 crore club. Baahubali 2 is the third Indian film to release in IMAX format and as well in other large screen format. In USA, it is releasing in around 40 IMAX screens and the number is expected to go up as we inch closer to the release date.
Even within India, there’s unprecedented craze for the film, especially in Kerala where the first part of the franchise made a killing at the box office. Trade pundits believe Baahubali 2: The Conclusion will easily mint around Rs 5 crore gross from the first day in the state. In Karnataka, too, the film is expected to rock at the box office and is likely to supersede the collections of the first part in the franchise.
