Dulquer pips Suriya and Madhavan, set to play Gemini Ganesan in Savitri biopic

Southern cinema is gearing up for its first biopic on late legendary southern actor Savitri. The makers has long been on the lookout for the male lead and they even considered Suriya and Madhavan to essay Savitri’s husband and actor Gemini Ganesan.
News is Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan, who is gearing up for the release of Comrade in America (CIA), has been finalised to play veteran star Gemini. Even though the makers are yet to make an official statement, the news has been confirmed by reliable sources. While it’s not a full-length role and will probably require him to shoot for just a week, it is believed he will have a couple of very important scenes in the film.
This project will mark Dulquer’s Telugu debut and it might also be dubbed in Malayalam to attract his fans. The regular shooting will commence from June and the makers are busy finalising the rest of the cast.
The project, which will simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu, has been titled Mahanati, and will feature Keerthy Suresh in the titular role. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been roped in for a crucial role and it is believed that the story of the film will be narrated from her perspective.
